MY
WHY
As a Mum myself, I understand the challenges that come with juggling motherhood, life, work and self-care. We are so quick to prioritise everyone else's needs above our own, which often leaves our own self-care falling to the bottom of the priority list. Once we become mother’s we slowly slip into the “Caregiver” archetype and the person we once were slips away, until we lose her completely. This is a collective trauma wound, ingrained into us from society, our Mother, and her Mother before her, all feeling that unworthiness or not-good-enoughness. Society puts enormous pressure on mothers to look perfect, make all the right decisions, have a successful career, perfectly behaved children, never show anger and do it all with very little support and no complaining or struggling.

What we then end up with is feeling like we’ve lost ourselves, we’ve lost our spark, our light has been dimmed, we’re burnt-the-hell-out, tired, frustrated, resentful, feeling unappreciated, and dealing with anxiety, internal or external rage and anger outbursts. You can also risk becoming either a:

-
disconnected parent – you struggle to find joy in motherhood and play, struggle to listen, talk and connect or show affection, you feel irritable and can over-react about small things. You may turn to distractions like Netflix, phone-scrolling or substances like alcohol or drugs just to chill out, deal or connect.
-
codependent parent – you’re overly involved in your children’s lives, your life kind of just revolves around them and not much else, you hate to see them struggle or find their emotions can be overwhelming, you like to be in control and sometimes use guilt trips, subtle manipulations or the silent treatment, laving your child wondering who the “bad guy” is.

You absolutely cannot pour from an empty cup, you cannot be your best self if you’re drowning in life. You have to put your oxygen mask on, before you help others. That is my WHY, I've been there, and now understand the importance of being well resourced and having a full cup. It's my mission to help fellow Mums identify and break these patterns, tap into their inner strength and learn how to resource themselves and see the importance of finding balance.
